Tonight was time for recipe #10: choc-chip cookies.

(For Americans - yes, it is utterly weird that we call them biscuits except when they have choc-chips, but somehow call them cookies for this one recipe. We know that. We still do it.)

Very nice, but I didn't quite read the recipe closely enough. The final step - shaping the mixture into balls and cooking them - said to do teeny tiny balls of mixture, and I overlooked that and did them in my normal size.

Behold: I have a long slab of choc-chip cookie, where all the individual balls have melted their sides into each other. I'm having to cut little squares off...

We do exactly the same thing!

My cookies always seem to run together no matter how small I make them or how few I put on the baking sheet at a time. Still taste yummy though. :)

As long as they tasted good, you got it right, I'd say.

We used to call those slab cookies, and we made them that way on purpose - packing the dough right up to the edges of the baking sheet.

I think those used a little less butter, though, so they didn't spread so much.

As long as they tasted good, the looks are very secondary.

Somebody else probably already mentioned this, but "pan cookies" are just what you describe. The dough is spread in a shallow pan and baked into one big cookie that is then cut into pieces. Sometimes it's baked into a pie shape (pizza, not deep dish fruit) and slice accordingly. So, you didn't really screw it up, just made a pan cookie. :)
