Trying to find a bridesmaid dress? Tricky.

Trying to find one that will suit me and match what the other bridesmaid is wearing? Trickier.

Trying to find one that will suit me, match the other bridesmaid, and match the bright red dress the bride is wearing? VERY VERY HARD.



I am theoretically in favour of the philosophy that bridesmaids should wear different dresses, rather than condemning them all to radioactive green with frills - but in practice, it's a pain.

Bright red? Yikes! I'd go with a neutral color.

I am in favor of matching dresses - it's simpler, and looks classier - but in a style (and color) that people might actually wear again. Getting the bridesmaids' input is appreciated.

All the shop assistants I've talked to keep trying to talk me into beige - which looks ghastly on me. (And meanwhile, there are all these gorgeous blue and purple dresses that I'd love and can't get... *is wistful*)

What about black or grey or silver or bronze? Also neutral colors, but don't make you look terrible. :)

Hee! I found a purple dress when I was shopping this weekend for a dress to wear to a wedding. I am kind of torn because I love the color, but the style is not great.

I.. I don't think I've ever known a bride to actually wear that. At least not in real life.

Well, I'm getting this from my embarrassing amount of experience watching Say Yes to the Dress, but I believe red is the traditional color of Indian wedding dresses, since white is for mourning. So your friend is either Indian or being multiculti? :)

Also Deird, I don't follow Australian politics too closely, I hear there's some crazy stuff going on about immigration and Aborigines? And it would be easier to get you to explain it than to look it up myself. :)

I... haven't heard about that. What about Aborigines?

(We tend to have an ongoing immigration debate simmering in the background. But I haven't seen anything particularly exciting happening in that area lately.)
