apparently, CD players are expensive

So, I bought my kids a CD player.

It failed, I returned it and got a replacement.

It failed, I returned it and said "...what else have you got?"

This was when I discovered that my favourite version of iPod is no longer sold in stores, and the ones that are still sold are way too overpowered for my 4 year old.

I got a store credit for the cost of the CD player (and bought a used iPod on eBay).



So far, my store credit has bought:
- Aladdin
- Happy Death Day
- Into the Spider-Verse
- The Muppet Show (Season 3)
- Muppet Treasure Island
- Big Hero 6
- an iTunes gift card

...and I still have money left.


(For the record: I loved Happy Death Day, and am eagerly waiting for my kids to go to sleep so I can watch Big Hero 6. From the trailer, it looks like exactly what Into the Spider-Verse was: a superhero movie that remembered why superheroes are fun.)

Gory, no. Scary... kinda. It's largely suspenseful-scary - where you know that clearly the killer is somewhere nearby (and the protagonist knows it too), and now you're just... waiting... tensely...

The many many deaths are mostly slightly off-screen. So, for instance, she's clearly being stabbed, but you can see the killer brandishing a knife - and not her being stabbed. The most dramatic thing that happens to her on-screen is her head being hit with a baseball bat - and it is about as undramatic as you can make that.


You are making Russian Doll sound more appealing than I thought. Must track that down at some point.
