apparently, CD players are expensive

So, I bought my kids a CD player.
It failed, I returned it and got a replacement.
It failed, I returned it and said "...what else have you got?"
This was when I discovered that my favourite version of iPod is no longer sold in stores, and the ones that are still sold are way too overpowered for my 4 year old.
I got a store credit for the cost of the CD player (and bought a used iPod on eBay).
So far, my store credit has bought:
- Aladdin
- Happy Death Day
- Into the Spider-Verse
- The Muppet Show (Season 3)
- Muppet Treasure Island
- Big Hero 6
- an iTunes gift card
...and I still have money left.
(For the record: I loved Happy Death Day, and am eagerly waiting for my kids to go to sleep so I can watch Big Hero 6. From the trailer, it looks like exactly what Into the Spider-Verse was: a superhero movie that remembered why superheroes are fun.)

Yep. Apple keeps getting rid of the ipods I like and updating to ones that I Do Not Want. Also, not everyone wants to listen to music on their phone. (My phone doesn't get great service and doesn't have enough memory.)
I've kept the ipod I got back in 2007 for a while now. They will have to take it from my cold dead hands. It's at work and I listen to it all day long -- unlimited music capacity for songs, and keeps on going strong.
Good to know about CD players. I may just get rid of my CD's and go back to records eventually -- even though I hate records and record players and was very happy when they disappeared in the 1990s.

INDEED. I hate listening to music on my phone.
I was so irritated by the iPod options available to buy - I don't actually want my son to be able to take photos or browse the internet or use apps - he's four! I just want him to be able to hit the "music" button and find the songs he likes.
At any rate, I now have two iPod nanos (mine and the kidlets'), and I'm hoping they both last for a long time...

So Happy Death Day isn't Gory? Is it scary? I do not do scary or gory. (I can't stand gore either. There are a lot of horror movies I've avoided because of this problem. And some I saw and deeply regretted. (Do not see Nightmare on Elm Street - I did and deeply regretted it. I should have listened to my brother (who'd seen it) and his warning, and not seen it.)
Russian Doll is well...she keeps dying and has to relive her 30th Birthday until she manages to find a way to put it right. To say more would include serious spoilers. However, it's uplifting, and no one is trying to kill her. Her deaths are random and accidental -- like falling down the stair fifteen different ways (seriously it becomes rather hilarious after a certain point) and being hit by a car, falling off a bridge, getting squashed by an A/C falling out of a window...
It's about being kind to others and mindful.
From trailers..I'm guessing Happy Death Day is a bit different than that?

Date: 2019-03-28 01:55 am (UTC)The many many deaths are mostly slightly off-screen. So, for instance, she's clearly being stabbed, but you can see the killer brandishing a knife - and not her being stabbed. The most dramatic thing that happens to her on-screen is her head being hit with a baseball bat - and it is about as undramatic as you can make that.
You are making Russian Doll sound more appealing than I thought. Must track that down at some point.
