I am rather angry.

My psychologist says she's "sceptical" about learning disabilities. So far it hadn't been a problem; today it became one.

I was mentioning organisational issues (am several days overdue with some bills, still) and she started trying to tell me it was because I'm not prioritising, have a mental block about paperwork, and need a new perspective. All with this superior smile, as if she could see how in denial I was being.

I was upset. Now I'm angry.

I will give her one more session, and if she can't get it by then, I'm out. I will NOT be told I could do these things I have tried (and failed) so many years to do. I won't let her pile guilt onto me for not being better at these things I've become so good at dealing with. I will not be told I'm just lazy.

Not again.

Who is this person who calls herself 'psychologist' and why on earth are you bothering to see her?

Of course you have trouble with those things.

THAT IS KINDA THE POINT.

You might as well say to House,
"See, the PROBLEM is that you're not using one of your legs properly. All you need to do is just walk evenly and then you won't have a limp anymore!"

Pat yourself on the back, because you are at the place where you can see that type of stupid behaviour for what it is and call it. You do NOT need to have emotional stress piled on top to make the problem worse.

The good ones I've been to, I think, would respond by saying, "Is it stressing you out? How are you dealing with that?" and "Have you got a plan for handling it? Shall we make one?" and "Have you any ideas for how you'd like to prevent this happening again?" - that sort of thing.
As in, be aware of your own life and your own feelings, take charge over your stress, be proactive in addressing the issues. Everything to reduce anxiety and confusion and to increase confidence and clarity.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Let me know if you want some *practical* help or even just empathy.
