First day of work after my holidays, and I had to change my password again.

The work computers want new passwords every month or so, without using any of the previous 12 passwords, please. As you can imagine, this really stretches your imagination.

Especially because I really can't manage to do the same password with a rotating number at the end - ilovefish1, ilovefish2, ilovefish3, etc - so I have to come up with a brand new password every time.

Recent iterations have included:
Peter Parker
Clark Kent
Buffy Summers
Dawn Summers
Fred Burkle
Tara Maclay
Illyria
Gwen Raiden

(Notice a trend?)

I am now going through Avatar: the Last Airbender with a fine-tooth comb, looking for new password possibilities. Which is fun, because I can imagine Sokka saying things in a sarcastic tone - and somehow that makes them much easier to keep in my head.

Had that at Kmart, except it was worse because it had to be a 5-digit number every time. Harder to think of a new one each time, harder to remember each new one.

If it was me, they'd be January, February, March, April...etc.

*snickers* You're better than I am. I can never remember to change my passwords when I should.

I've found that I can get around all our restrictions using the following formula ;

word of choice - eg Buffy
dot
current month
current year

So today I changed mine to the equivalent of Buffy.Jan11

This copes with 'must have mixture of upper and lower case, must include one punctuation mark, must include letters and numbers, must not be the same as any of the previous 13' which are out password regs! But I never have a problem remembering it.

A fine toothcomb: a fine thing wot one uses to comb one's teeth?
And here I was spelling it 'fine-toothed comb' or even 'fine-tooth comb', all these years.... ;-)
Ugh, password changes are the pits. I took to just using the names of pets, with a year I would hopefully remember. Think I only locked myself out once...
