My accordion skills are at a level where I'm really living in the wrong century.


Because, given the amount of musicianship I have, if I lived pre-electricity I would be playing for friends and family at least a couple of times a week. Which would be great.

But I'm not a professional. And I'm not an awesome player. And really, my only option for other people hearing me at all is busking.

I don't want to busk. And I do want to play for people sometimes. But, unfortunately, I live in a time when people simply aren't bored enough.

I bet old people's homes would leap at the occasional offer of a visiting entertainer! Anywhere people aren't free to get out to or pay for ordinary music venues, in fact - the trick wold probably be to keep it to just occasional.

Seconding the old people's home. One of my friends was in this same situation with her piano skills and decided to volunteer at an old people's home and she says it was the best decision she's ever made.

(she ended up liking it so much that she now works for one of the places where she volunteered)

I like the suggestion of old folks' homes; but also maybe a YouTube channel? Perhaps dismayingly non-transient but seems the best bet for finding bored people. :-d

You reminded me of a wonderful film called Bread and Tulips (it's German-Italian and I don't even know whether it's translated into English, the DVD I had had German and French sound), anyhow, the main character Rosalba plays accordion for friends, on pickings and in the street so they can dance. You should try that, too! Maybe, try to watch the movie for inspiration?;).

Considering the amount of music people have running at all times, I think you could just hang out and play around people pretty much anywhere and have a semi-captive audience. I love having music on while I do pretty much anything. Heck, it's the thing most people enjoy about the best coffee shops.
