Life is about to drastically change.

This week, the husband will be in Japan - so the kidlet and I will be home by ourselves. The next week, I will start working three days a week, while the husband drops down to three days too.

I am simultaneously excited and terrified. What if my son doesn't remember me after a whole nine hours apart? What if I forget how to read and totally fail at my job? What if aliens land?

...hopefully it will all be fine.

It will be fine. It really will. And if for some reason things go pearshaped and it isn't fine, it will be manageable.

Exciting! Enjoy the changes and challenges. :-)

Kidlet will be fine, they adapt rather well. The one time I left my kid for a weekend, she remembered who I was just fine. Apparently wondered where I was a few times, but no wailing or anything. Having a familiar daddy there is very helpful. (Not sure how, say, childcare would be... :-/ )

And when her daddy first started going back to work she would trot around looking for him, but soon adjusted without a peep, and it makes homecoming all the more exciting. And weekends are suddenly big family days. :-)

You'll probably be rusty with thinking and comprehension, and communicating with adults, but will find your groove in no time.

Aliens won't land. At least, not for a few weeks, when the new X Files might bring us some. Woo! :-D

Two days after Aaron was born I had to be hospitalized. I didn't see him for six days and he still knew who I was! So, no worries.

As far as reading? You haven't forgotten but you may find an overpowering urge to read all material out loud and use silly voices while doing so.
