30 days of Buffy - day 9

deird1Going slightly different on this one. While I can (and will) mention my favourite romance, I thought I'd mention all my favourite romances. Or, in fact, pretty much pair off as many characters as possible.
Day 9: Favorite Romance(s)
As I have mentioned on previous occasions, I have three basic things which turn me shippy:
1) the two of them are enemies
2) one of them can’t say “I love you”
and
3) one person is more invested in the relationship than the other one
Bearing that in mind...
Willow - should be with Kennedy. Pretty much always.
Buffy - should be with Spike. (Assuming he survives. If not, my Buffy/Faith ship comes rising to the surface...)
Xander - should be with Anya.
Giles - should be with Faith. (For which I entirely blamebruttimabuoni for putting the idea in everyone's heads.)
Angel - should be with Darla.
Cordelia - should be with Doyle.
Dawn - should be with Andrew. (If anyone's the least bit surprised by that.)
Gunn - should be with Gwen.
Lorne - should be with Barbra Streisand.
...which just leaves the Wesley dilemma. AKA: Wesley can be shipped with ANYONE. I ship Wes/Fred. And Wes/Lilah. And Wes/Illyria. Pretty much in equal measures.
This is where my list above comes in. Most of my pairings include at least one of these points, if not two. (Dawn/Andrew, uniquely, doesn't include any of them.) But none have all three.
EXCEPT for Wes/Lilah. Who are far too superb to even think about. They care deeply about each other, they're constantly trying to work against each other, and both of them (I believe) are secretly convinced that the other person is much less invested in the relationship than they are themselves - and therefore it's okay, because they're the only one who will get hurt.
And I ship them like mad.

Day 17: Character You Relate To The Most
Day 18: Character Who Didn’t Get Enough Screen Time
Day 19: Character You Like That Everyone Else Hates
Day 20: Best Spike-centric Episode

Day 22: Best Xander-centric Episode
Day 23: Two Characters You Wanted To Get Together That Never Did
Day 24: Hottest scene
