Showed up at the local medical centre at 8 (when it opens) this morning, and asked about an appointment. Was given an appointment for 8 - "once the doctor arrives".
The doctor showed up for his starts-at-eight-o'clock job at 10 past.
...it's now 25 to 9 and I'm still waiting.
It's not like he's been held up by previous patients, or anything. I'm his first patient! And yet, here I am, waiting impatiently, while he... presumably reads a novel or something.
