It's supposed to be hot today. Being aware of this, I am currently sitting in my freezing cold house, shivering, and reminding myself that turning the heater on would be a boneheadedly stupid thing to do.



Saw Agents of Shield the other night. It... reminded me of Torchwood.

By which I mean that it had the central leader guy who knew exactly how to handle the other characters and did nothing wrong, and a whole bunch of other characters whose entire personality could be summed up by their jobs. There's "tech guy", "kung-fu chick", and "secret agent man" – but, so far, I know nothing else about any of them. Are they sarcastic? Do they like chocolate? Have they ever been really bored? It's a mystery.

So far? Not intrigued. Not enough to keep watching. I like investigation-of-the-week shows, but every show like that that's ever drawn me in has done so through the characters – and, so far, I haven't seen any of those.

Yeah, I've heard pretty mixed things about the first episode. Marvel is not really my thing and I didn't love Avengers all that much, so I don't have high expectations. I figure I'll watch the first 3 eps, since pilots are tricky and often bad. Not that I'm trying to convince you to keep watching, this is just how I'm approaching it.

Also, the pilot is apparently the source of this icon which I love. So I feel I ought to watch it. :D

See, I am a Marvel fan, and I liked Avengers, and I still wasn't impressed. :)

The life delays include house-hunting (bad) and husband birthdays (good). So, a bit of a mixed bag there...

I'm watching Agents of SHIELD because I'm a huge Joss fan and I love what he did with the Avengers.

I'm not seeing his characteristic dialog. This saddens me. What I am seeing is a team of people who come across as a little flat, giving them room to grow. At the end of Episode 2 there is a Hint of Bigger Plot to Come.

Remember, Babylon 5 had a rather rocky start as well. :)

Everything I've seen about this show makes me think I'd dislike it too. Especially when people are squeeing over how awesome they find it. The reasons they find it awesome are reasons I would sigh and roll my eyes. Which is true of almost everything Joss Whedon does or says, for me. So if even someone who likes stuff Whedon does isn't interested in this show... yeah.
