Currently dealing with textbooks that used to say this:
List several features of dogs.
(Answer: they are fluffy, and often pets)

But now, being adapted for an activity, the author has decided to turn it into a true/false question, like this:
True or false: Dogs are fluffy, and often pets.
(Answer: true)

Which... okay.

But then, having done this twenty-odd times in a row, the author has realised that there's a few too many "true" questions, and has decided to make some of them "false". So, they've thought long and hard about how to turn a true statement into a false one, and have finally realised "Aha! Word substitution!"

Which led to things like this:
True or false: Cats are fluffy, and often pets.
(Answer: false)

I keep going through and finding lots of statements they've labelled as false that aren't actually false, and I just... *destroys things*

LOLOL. Yep.

(Is the statement "Dogs are fluffy, and often pets" a direct quote? Because that comma shouldn't be there.)

So...are they saying the statement is false because cats aren't fluffy? I should introduce them to my sister's Main coons.

Or, maybe they think cats aren't pets? Of course, to be fair, most cats think that way - they seem to feel that they are the owners and we're the pets.

It sounds like they're saying:

If A then B, therefore if not A then not B. C is not A, therefore C is not B.

They obviously need to be introduced to Logic 101. And I wouldn't let do any computer programming, because none of their code would work. (then again, that might explain things...)

Was it written by a cat? THEY don't think they're pets. ;)

I still remember a thing in my high school Spanish book about dividing up words into categories. One section was on food. And we had to put the Spanish words in 'dairy, meat, fruit, vegetable, seasoning, dessert, etc'. I forget the specifics, but it was like an either/or thing. What I do remember is that I missed 'garlic' and 'pepper' because I put the wrong one in 'seasoning' and the wrong one in 'vegetable'. THEY ARE BOTH VEGETABLES AND BOTH USED AS SEASONING. But my teacher wouldn't give me the point.

They are clearly using some new form of logic the world has previously never seen.

And it should have stayed that way.
