I remember a game like this but for the developing world (I think it was set in Haiti, maybe?) The aim of that game was for at least one family member to survive the next ten years. You got points for how many got any education at all.

I then stumbled onto some reviews for that game, with people talking about how to 'win' the game, based on their experience playing it, like, ten times, to perfect their 'system', somehow forgetting that for a real Haitian family there are no do-overs.
