The Mezzanine

As one of the aforementioned archers, sadly I can substantiate the fact that people can indeed be 'that stupid'. At the archery courses we have run we always spent the first few moments impressing on the participants the lethal nature of the equipment, with immediate consequences for those who did not take them seriously.
And, even in extremely experienced hands, these things do go off accidentally - as indicated by the hole in the family room floor ;)
