I've thought of a possible app which would make me want an iPad.

It would involve a stylus - and I gather the point of the iPad is not to have the stylus - but I don't care. I don't want any old tablet computer, I want an iPad! Then my iPhone, my iPad, and my Macbook could all hang out and feel all appley...

Anyway. Imaginary app:
You open a pdf document.
And you get your stylus, and make handwritten notes all over the document.
And the iPad creates a new pdf, with the original document AND all your notes in red.
So you can print out a red-pencilled edit of the whole thing, or just email it to someone.

Wouldn't that be useful? We could call it iEdit!

Oh please tell me it exists...

Ooh. :o
That would be very nice. I am currently unhappy with iPads (because the one I had to use at work, to test a particular piece of software, was a Big Pain - so big I have to use arbitrary caps to show how big a pain it was) but that might make it worthwhile.

Holy parentheticals, Batman.

You know this exists, right? :D It's called PDF Expert, and you can totally get a stylus (Apple just doesn't make them). The cheapest and lightest is by Pogo, but there are some pretty neat ones out there.

I use it for my grad school articles all the time. It even syncs with Dropbox!

I'm an Apple fangirl, I just only let my Buffy fangirl out on LJ. My iMac, iPad and iPhone all hang about with my Kindle regularly. ;)

Thinkgeek have the stylii, and they are common on Ebay. I think Anita has one if you want a look first. Usually cheap.

Oh! Btw, you're learning Latin, right? I just spent a week in a full-immersion Latin "camp" and there was a Latin teacher there from Melbourne. I don't know where you are in Aussieland, but I kept thinking I should hook you up. :P (and yes, I know how big it is over there, and the chances of you actually being in the same city)

Ooh! Would you like me to contact him? He's a high school teacher (most of the people there were) and has only just begun speaking Latin, like me. Maybe y'all could have coffee. I'm pretty sure it was Melbourne...

This certainly already exists for Windows and is called PDF Annotator. I use it all the time in the classroom. Most textbooks now come as a PDF as well as text and this allows me to scribble all over it (using my tablet projected onto the whiteboard at the front of the class). It's really great 'cause it has not just pens but highlighters, stamps etc. :-)

It's only $70 to buy but AFAIK there's no version of this particular program for Apple platforms.

Apparently, Wacom also make Styluses for iPad (they do things like graphics tablets).
