(Belated photos are belated.)

Day 169:

We went to a wedding at St Jude's - which is an old church in the city that still looks old (stained glass windows, and so forth), but also has been redecorated in funky colours.

This wall didn't look quite so green when I was there...

Day 170:

Duck in cherry sauce.

It's actually pretty difficult to carve a duck. I was expecting the meat to be in all the usual places you'd find it on a chicken, but it's not - so you sort of have to poke around randomly until you find surprise bits of duck meat, hidden from view.

Day 171:

I have no idea why we're so famous, but for some reason people in my office keep being interviewed by film crews.

Very odd.

Day 172:

This is the chocolate stash that lives on my desk.

It's usually filled up entirely by different kinds of M&M, but recently I bought some Jaffas (the round red ones) and Maltesers (already eaten by the time I took the photo) to give me some variety.

Day 173:

Welcome to STRIKE, who managed to make bowling cool. This is not your mother's bowling alley.

There are funky lights, music videos playing on the walls, fashionable bowling shoes, alcohol, pool tables... It's all set up like a nightclub - but with bowling.

Day 174:

I managed to take this photo by attaching my camera to the mini stand that looks a bit like a spider, and then hooking the spider legs over the top of my bedroom door.

Not being able to see what I was doing - and having to take the camera down between each shot - meant that I got some pretty strange photos. There's me looking startled, me looking like an alien, and several photos of just my feet...

Day 175:

This is a fountain in the city, near the Arts Centre. ([personal profile] dr_carrot took me to the ballet for a birthday present, which was fun.)

The fountains were turned off for ages, due to drought. It's rather nice having them back again.

Love the photo of the church... the green actually compliments the stained glass surprisingly well!

And I know what you mean about duck... funny that things can be so different between types of poultry!

Ooh, pretty stained glass!

Ooh, pretty water!

Hmm, Jaffas sound interesting.
The variety of candy in the world amazes me. Walking down a Canadian candy aisle for the first time felt so novel. (Did you know Cadbury makes a wide variety of chocolate bars, and the vast majority of them are crap? Hard to believe, I know. Or do they do that in Australia too?)

These are unusual? Okay, the fashionable shoes are, and I admit I don't think I've seen any pool tables in bowling alleys since moving to Canada, but the rest...
Funky lights? Check.
Music videos? Check, although only if you're in one of the bigger ones.
Alcohol? Check. (At least, it's on the menus. Nobody's ever tried to order any in front of me.)

Huh. I've never been inside St Jude's. When I was at Janet Clarke Hall, some of the Christians at college went there, including A, a girl I had some arguments with about the morality of homosexuality, which led to my unbelievably embarrassing coming-out over the college's internal email list.

I do not miss my Bright College Days one bit.

That is some pretty stained glass, though.
