Day 8:

This is my former housemate.
She says this hat would look awesome on anyone; I think it mainly looks awesome on her.
Day 9:

The Botanical Gardens, as seen from the middle.
I was sitting here for five minutes, looking down the hill. There's this old painting from about here, that was painted in the late 19th century: it showed all the buildings in the middle of the city. Now, they're pretty much hidden behind trees.
Day 10:

My attempts to become a cyborg!
Currently they're very low-tech - a walking stick, orthotics, and glasses - but I'm sure to be wired for robotic arms any day now.
Day 11:

This is Sister #1's bathroom, in the middle of being gutted.
Eventually it will be a very pretty room. Or so I'm told...
Day 12:

These here are the longest escalators in the southern hemisphere.
I go up them every morning, and down them every evening.
Day 13:

The yummiest souffle I've ever eaten.
kerithave and I went to a fancy French restaurant for her birthday, and had roast duck, followed by souffle (me) and creme brulee (her). So very yummy.
Day 14:

My sisters! The beach! My sisters at the beach! Woo!
I was unfortunately wearing shoes and socks, and couldn't fully enjoy the beachy fun. But I did get to take lots of photos... and then bought thongs the next day. (No, Americans. Not thongs; thongs.)
I have two more, but they'll have to wait until next week's batch.
ETA: Urgent help required!
I just figured out that links to tumblr photos - or at least the links I've got - expire after a few days.
How on earth can I get links to the photos that will stay up without me having to update all my photo posts every week???

Date: 2011-01-16 02:31 pm (UTC)Even Americans get confused. When I was listening in on a customer call when I worked at a company that sold swimsuits, and when the rep asked a woman if she wanted to buy thongs with her suits, she said, "Oh god no! I've had six kids!"
