re-reading "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd"

To Punkie
who likes an orthodox detective story ...

Given that Roger Ackroyd is famous for being a very unorthodox detective story (and for redefining the entire genre), I like to imagine Agatha Christie writing this dedication with a wry smile.


The woman likes her twist endings.

I'd never noticed that dedication before! I remember being shocked by the endings of a couple of her books (Endless Night and Peril at the End House) but not Roger Ackroyd. I think it was one of the last ones I read and so I expected the twist.

Oh- and they televised it just recently- Kinda disappointing- soooo much better when read and experienced...well, y'know. Just not the same as a film.
