Most of the [community profile] snowflake_challenge challenges have been tricky, so far. This one's easy – especially since I decided to exclude my main fandom (BtVS), and focus on fics where you really don't need to know the fandom much at all.

1: Feed Me to the Tabloid Monster

This is the fic that got me into reading fanfic in the first place. I saw a metafandom-linked discussion about "fanfics that totally shouldn't work, but really do", and this was the first one mentioned.

It is a het mpreg, starring Bobby and Rogue, from X-Men (specifically, from the first two X-Men movies, not the rest of the canon). It's thoroughly awesome, and I enjoyed it enough to hunt out all the fanfic I could get my hands on.

2: Polarity

I have actually recced this fic before, a decade ago.

It's set in the Marvel (comics) universe, and stars minor super-villain "The Shocker", who's dealing with an unexpected zombie apocalypse taking over New York.

It is very long, but very well-plotted. The author clearly knows the canon back to front.

3: The First Eight Don't Count

Don't know if any of you have seen the movie The Losers, but it's about a group that's basically The A Team, pulling off a heist with lots of explosions and gunfire. It definitely does not have werecats.

In this fic, one of the main characters from The Losers is secretly a werecat. I highly recommend reading it, even if you've never seen the movie (I hadn't, when I first read it).
