Haven't really posted much lately. Life has kinda been getting in the way.

So. General update*:

- I am looking for work, and also freelancing.
- Freelancing costs a LOT. All my clients keep saying "We want to pay you $500! But first you need to spend $300 on an essential piece of software, okay?"
- I have been watching much tv, including Leverage, My Little Pony, Once Upon A Time, Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and Zombieland. They all rock.
- The boyfriend is back in Australia, which is extremely awesome.
- Although I am terribly religious, and not at all concerned with such trivialities as shiny and delicious presents, I must report a total of 14 Easter eggs, 1 Ferrero Rocher, and 5 bunnies. SO MUCH CHOCOLATE. AND ALL FOR ME.
- Autumn has finally started taking over from our ridiculously long summer. About time! Unfortunately, it's been so long that I've completely forgotten how to dress for cold weather. I keep on putting on pretty outfits and then going "But I can't wear a jumper! It won't match!" and nearly freezing to death.
- I was sick for a couple of weeks, and so have spent the last 10 days off dairy. I miss my cereal - with an intense, burning passion that I'd never realised flattened bits of corn could inspire in me.
- Life is busy. But good.

* HIMYM fans will understand why I felt it necessary to smartly salute and murmur "General Update!" in the middle of writing this blog post.

I hope you are all better soon and that freelancing becomes less expensive.

Yay for chocolate and returned-boyfriend!

Oh of course. Every time I've looked into "working from home", there's always some huge outlay right up top. What work do you freelance in?

I'm wondering, how cold does it actually get in Australia anyway? As an American I have a pretty inaccurate idea of Australian climate.

Color me jealous!

Seattle is quite a bit milder than Melbourne, I think. Our summers are generally in the 20's C. I don't think we've broken 100 F in a few years; even temperatures in the 90's F are pretty unusual. Though our winters are probably similar, maybe a bit colder. But not much, despite being a lot higher latitude.

Is Melbourne humid in summer? You get a lot of summer rain, right?

(I'm asking partly because I am a bit of a weather/climate geek and therefore genuinely interested, but also because I might actually move to Melbourne!)

Yeah, I was trying to think of another area in the US that might be more like Melbourne, but the geography is so different I'm not sure there is one? The combination of subtropical latitude and proximity to the stormy Southern Ocean is quite different from anywhere in the US. Where I grew up in New Mexico is probably close temperature-wise, but we got much less rain.

Glad to know it's a dry heat! I like that. :D I have no tolerance for high humidity, but I can deal with heat when it's dry.

I'm pretty excited about the prospect of living there a few years! My Skype interview is tomorrow. :D

Southern Australia has a Mediterranean climate - think Italy, Spain, Greece Southern France and California.

Oh you poor thing.

Meanwhile, we're now officially in the sixth month of sub-zero temperatures... :P

General Update! Ha! You made me miss HIMYM for the first time since, well, since I gave up on it last spring. Aw.

Wow, I hope the freelancing stuff works out and gets more lucrative. Would it work to accumulate software so that future gigs have less overhead?

I would be so sad without cereal. Do you like milk alternatives, like soy or almond or whatnot? Or are those not common in Melbourne?

Hope you feel better soon!
