I am applying for yet another editing position - this one in the UK. Wish me luck!
My application letter is slightly more informal and chatty than normal. This is because I like formal application letters (and think they're generally more appropriate) but the only one that's ever actually got me an interview was the most informal application letter on the planet, in which I faffed around, blathered about fanfic, and then concluded that they probably thought I was weird and crazy but I actually did want the job...
Not sure why that letter got me an interview, but for some reason they liked it.
At least in the current letter I'm not outright calling myself crazy.

Date: 2011-03-04 07:24 pm (UTC)I've spent the last few weeks being part of a sift of 850 applications. Believe me, anything that makes an application stand out from the homogeneous mass is a relief. Standing out positively comes second.
