The Mezzanine

Oh, enjoy all the beautiful European-ness! One of the things I've always been fascinated about re: the British Empire is the way they tried to transport English clothes/food/culture from the place where it originated to other places where it was completely unsuitable. (All those Victorians running around India in those heavy clothes! You'd almost feel sorry for them if they weren't colonizing someone else's country!) I do actually feel sorry for the settlers in Australia: homesick and trying to make something that reminds them of home and it just not succeeding. But I'm so glad you get to enjoy the gardens now!
