1) import my LJ in its entirety, and crosspost all future entries

2) import bits of my LJ, mostly so that I don't have to import all my icons again

3) use this account for different purposes, like just slowly re-posting fic and meta for anyone who wants to read it here

I just went ahead and imported my whole LJ. I'll still probably use LJ the most, and just post important things like fic and graphics for back up or something. *shrugs* I'm not sure yet. I'm still checking things out.

I imported the whole lot, just because the import tool makes it so simple. Also going to cross-post from here, again because it's so simple.

It was a pain that it wouldn't import all my upics, but the multi-upload facility makes it reasonably easy to grab them again and there were quite a few I'd been meaning to delete anyway.

So far, user-friendly seems to be the magic word. Or should that be words? *g*

Not to be a butt or nothin', but it's really quite simple - you go to 'Organize', and then 'Import Content', and select the journal you want to import from, and what you want to import (tags, userpics, entries, comments, bio, friends groups, friends, etc.), then you start the import - and that's it. It might take awhile depending on how many other people are trying to import their journals, but you don't have to sit with it or anything - you can log out and forget about it and you'll find out when it's done when they message you about it.

But really, it's not like you have to decide now, anyways - you'll always be able to import it.

-do I want to decide that Dreamwidth Is The Future, and from now on post everything from here?

-will my flist still be reading LJ entries?

-what if I make this account purely fannish, and just have my fic (and occasional meta) here?

-what if I managed to actually post stuff here that my mother won't instantly get to see?

-what if LJ collapses in a burning heap tomorrow, and I lose everything?

Yeah...I see the complicated.

I imported all of my journal, and I'll be cross-posting. There is this sort of in-between right now; like I'm still only reading my LJ f-list, cause my DW f-list has like 4 people and 2 comms right now.

And I can't decide whether it's worth it to import the userpics I have on my LJ...

I'd do it all, myself. Just because it's so easy.

Of course, now I have the unenviable task of changing the links to all my fic masterlists, my awards pages and the links between parts of series and so forth. *sigh* I'm about....half-way done? Maybe? :P
