The thing about Christmas in Australia is that all the Christmas stuff and all the end of school year breakup stuff is all happening at the same time.

I currently am going to kinder concerts, playgroup parties, next-year-at-school events, and miscellaneous end of the year events, and a whole bunch of Christmas get-togethers.

All while it's 36 degrees outside and Sydney is apparently still on fire.

It's 37C here, and I'm very glad to hide in my bedroom today. Way too hot to have to deal with people or the outdoors.

It seems to have cooled down now, which is nice!

I'm hoping for a Christmas of 25 degrees or thereabouts...

It's just nuts today. And Level 2 water restrictions start tomorrow...

Eek. Does that mean no watering the garden?

Limited watering options. Can't use a hose, have to carry buckets. Can't use watering systems for longer than 15 minutes. Can't wash cars or houses or driveways with a hose, can't fill pools with a hose without a permit...

No restrictions indoors, though.

39 here. I had to drive thirty minutes to a therapy appointment at 2pm. Then at 3pm I had to drive back, and it turned out Flemington Road was closed off, so I and every other car driving westbound on Flemington had to go around. It took over an hour.

I am so glad I do not have kids or get-togethers. My sympathies.

I think just about all Australian parents have discovered that you spend summer days going to the playground at sunrise and then cowering inside for the rest of the day. :)

I am ignorant enough that I didn't realize that you did your year schedule the opposite of ours in the northern hemisphere though of course it makes sense. I guess I just thought that y'all would be have your long break in your winter.

School finishes up nowish (my nephews finished yesterday), and then starts again at the end of January.
