one day I will watch a CURRENT show...

Am currently sitting out on my deck, watching my son terrorise the mint plant. (Alternating between pulling off leaves and dropping more gravel into the top of the pot.)

I have been rewatching The West Wing of late, and am once again dismayed to realise that I'm a decade too late to be part of the fandom. I want fervent discussion of plotlines! Why oh why am I so behind the times?

But seriously:
- I have OPINIONS on CJ's rise to Chief of Staff, Toby's leak, the Santos campaign, Will Bailey's very existence, the sad lack of Ainsley Hayes, and pretty much the whole of the post-Sorkin seasons.

- I want very much to see some post-series snippets of CJ (new job, new life with Danny, and Charlie tagging along to be her right-hand man), as well as a spin-off show with the new administration.

- Why oh why is there not someone West-Wing-ising the current US campaign with many brilliant layers of satire?

...and I had more thoughts, but my son has just realised he can fit underneath the car, so I have to go.

Kind of (well, that and because it has Julia Louis-Dreyfus being VERY foulmouthed). It's sort of the anti-West Wing in that it's very clever but also very cynical; every single character is a self-serving asshole who only clings to their job because nobody else is any better (or because the ones who are stand no chance in the Washington power games). But it is hilarious.

>be me

>be oppressed member of oppressed femslash minority

>write in dead fandoms

>toss off a casual Jessica Jones fic i'm not even all that emotionally invested in

>watch it get fifty kajillion more hits and kudos than almost everything else i've written put together

>FML

I really like the relationship between the two leads in JJ, but the rest of it was only average. Still, writing the Dark Angel smut made me fall in love with that fandom all over again, and even harder than before. Seems like only yesterday I was bitching about Fox cancelling it in favor of some dumb space Western by that Buffy guy.

"I revolve around femslash, it's all I know!" Well, pretty damn close. I was actually surprised at the AO3 breakdown, which indicates I write about a third more femslash than het and gen combined. And apparently I also write twice as much general and teen material as I do "mature" and "explicit". Though this Dark Angel is the smuttiest fic I've written in years (and the best, IMO), the X-Men Rogue/Jean seems to have decided it wanted to leave that one here on Earth while it launched into orbit.

(You might also have been thrown by my suddenly posting fic again, after a hiatus of over three and a half years. As Giles would say, like fine Scotch, I only get better with age.)

(PS, you are of course welcome to read anywhere you choose, but these days my AO3 page is preferred)
