only two decades late for this conversation...
I am watching Smallville for the first time.
I have many thoughts on many aspects of this, but right now I'm just going to share three:
1) Buffy did high school so much better – especially in terms of recurring background students.
2) This show is doing Lois Lane perfectly, and I love it.
3) If I ever rewatch, I'm going to keep a running amnesia score for each character. I'm only up to season 5, and I swear some of these characters are already on double digits.

I watched SV when it aired, but only the first 3 seasons. But it is always fun to go back and discover a show you didn't see the first time around. (and if nothing else, the fannish output on AO3 would be huge. I remember it being a giant fandom back in the day.)

This show is ridiculous, but it’s holding my attention.

I was worried, because the two women at the start of the show are Lana (TOTAL damsel), and Chloe (basically Giles). And I was concerned that they’d either have Lois constantly getting into trouble and needing to be rescued from her own folly, or, worse, NOT getting into trouble because she’s hanging back and helping Clark rather than getting involved herself.
But NO. She’s snarky, and clever, and getting involved, and being rescued, and rescuing Clark, and bickering with him like there’s no tomorrow. It’s exactly right.
