Tassie!

We've just been booking our holiday. We're going to Tasmania!

You may recall, I live in Melbourne, which is about as close to Tasmania as you can get while being in a totally different state. So, rather than flying, we are taking the boat across (and thereby having our car for the entire holiday).

I haven't been to Tasmania since I was 11, so I'm very excited. We're going to do all the convicty bits, and a lot of nature-y bits too (waterfalls, caves, etc). We're not going to do any long walks, which is very disappointing - but our children have little legs and wouldn't manage to walk that far, so we figure we'll wait another decade and come back to climb some mountains.

This is all going to happen in a couple of weeks. So exciting!

Oh, I love Tasmania. Went there in 1991. They have a wildlife park in the center of it. Also beautiful waterfalls, etc. There was this little Inn along the eastern coast...can't remember the name of it, and don't know if it still exists, but it served the best food, and was within a short walk of a waterfall, also you could take a tour from the inn, on a boat, and hike up to another waterfall, inaccessible from the land, and through a cave. I remember they served a four course traditional British Christmas Meal, and had the best tarts imaginable.

Take motion sickness medication prior to going on the ferry. We took the ferry for the same reasons (so we could have our car for the entire time), ran into a rough crossing, and well...

Wow! Unbelievable that one might be able just to go to Tasmania. For me, it's like a trip around the world. Tasmania! OMG. Looking forward to many details about your trip! (and, maybe, pictures?)
