disorganised fretting

Accidentally left my wallet at work.

It is really disconcerting getting in your car to go to a doctor's appointment and thinking "I can't pay. I can't go to the bank and get out money so I can give them cash. I can't show them my driver's license to prove that I am honest and coming back to pay. If I crash on the way to the doctor, I can't show the police my driver's license. If I crash and wind up unconscious in hospital, they won't be able to go through my wallet to find out who I am..."

Ah well. At least I can get it back tomorrow.

I know exactly what you mean! A few weeks ago, I stopped by a natural food market to grab some lunch... I'd already gotten stuff from the hot food bar (in takeaway containers) and had made it to the checkout before I realized that I'd taken out my driver's license and debit card that morning to put in my little hiking pack when I'd gone out walking. I had no cash and I remember standing there trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully, I realized I had a credit card stuck away in a little hidden pouch in my wallet, so I put a $5 lunch on my credit card (so very grateful that they accepted this one), feeling very silly the whole time.

But I did the same thing you did... thinking of all the things that could go wrong before I got home to retrieve the rest of my regular wallet stuff. I did, at least, have the comfort of knowing I had that one credit card and that it even happened to have my photo on it. But still... it's so disconcerting!
