Photos!

My home internet has gone veeeerrrryy sssslloooowwww suddenly, so I had to come down to my parents' house to use theirs...

Day 134:

Here is Alex, extremely excited over his birthday cake. He's now five!

Day 135:

My housemate, watching television. My housemate's cat, watching his mummy.

Day 136:

It seems that I am not the only person who puts silly things on their desk.

Mine are spaceships; the guy next to me has cars.

Day 137:

Remember my disastrous cake? Yeah. This is half an hour later - when I set my oven on fire.

It took me about three seconds to stop worrying about putting out the fire, and start searching for my camera...

Day 138:

The movie theatre near my house is one of the Village Cinema franchise. And so they've set the whole thing up to look like a village.

Day 139:

Here is Smudge, playing with string...

(I really should put more photos of my lovely cat up here - but he's mostly been sleeping, and thus not so interesting to photograph.)

Day 140:

I read something a while ago saying that Australian/European trees have different coloured autumn leaves to American ones: ours are orangey-gold, and American leaves are bright red.

Not sure if these trees were imported from America, but they're much more red than I'm used to.

Your nephew has the widest, happiest of smiles!!

Do you know what kind of trees they are? They are shorter than our street trees but they put on a pretty color show.

Re. your trees- it's not your imagination! (Hurrah, how often do you hear that?)
They ARE redder than usual this year!
Friend of mine also thought so, and found the answer in the newspaper... "It's not my imagination. According to the a Melbourne University arborist the autumn leaves in Melbourne this year do have a deeper and richer hue. Apparently lots of rain followed by a fairly extreme cold snap has increased the sugar generated by many species. More sugar = richer pigments in the cells - who knew?"
