re: A Song of Ice and Fire

1) Love it.
2) Really hope I can finish reading the silly thing some time in the next few decades. (700 pages per book? Who does that?)
3) No, I'm not going to watch the tv show.
4) Please don't spoil me past the end of book 2.
5) Yes, I've heard about the wedding, even though I'm trying to remain unspoiled.
6) Even if the rest of the story were not unbelievably cool, Martin would still have my undying love for being the first fantasy writer of my acquaintance to notice that dragons breathe fire and hence should not be eating their meat raw.
7) Love it love it love it.

Re (6), somebody in AtLA fandom noticed that, though how the timeline compares to when Martin noticed, I don't know. (Vathara on fanfiction.net, author of "Theft Absolute" and Embers, to be read in that order. The dragons-eat-cooked-meat thing comes up well into Embers. Which is epically long and still growing.)

Re the rest: unfamiliar with Martin, books and TV both. Not sure I want to be familiar with Martin, given what I've heard about books and TV both.
